The Millbury Sutton Chronicle

Millbury Savings Bank opened its first Worcester branch, located at 1001 Millbury Street, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Joined by Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray, Mayor Joseph M. Petty, Worcester City Manager Michael V. O’Brien, and state and local officials at this morning’s event, Millbury Savings Bank President and CEO William J. Walsh declared the 2,500-square-foot, full-service branch at the corner of Millbury and Providence streets open for business.

“We’re very excited about extending our community bank presence northward into Worcester,” said President and CEO William J. Walsh. “With no other banks’ branches within a mile of this location, this branch will become an important resource for financial services to the residents and businesses of Quinsigamond Village, Vernon Hill, and the City of Worcester.

Construction took about seven months and employed primarily local contractors and subcontractors, led by Michael McGovern, owner and President of McGovern Development Corporation in Sutton. The new branch will employ a total of six full and part-time employees, and offers such conveniences as a drive-up teller window, drive-up ATM, and night depository. Operating hours are Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to Noon. The drive-up window will open at 7:30 a.m. weekdays.
